  • (1888PressRelease) December 20, 2015 - Singapore - A full range of Udders ice cream is now available at the newly refurbished Jack's Place, OrangeTee Building (Toa Payoh).

The collaboration between Jack's Place and Udders ice cream started beginning this year in line with the revamp of Jack's Place, its fresh menu roll-out and the new brand extension of Jack's Place called Jack's Cola Café.

This offers more dining choices and options to our guests should they choose to dine at Jack's Place Toa Payoh and provides a complete meal experience, with more reasons to visit us. From a business perspective, the collaboration provides better utilisation of resources for both parties, win-win partnership with space and rental effectiveness, and better manpower productivity.

Jack's Place Management decided to work with Udders, "Because, like us, they are a good reputable local brand that focus on quality and good value. And they have their own pull of customers. So we leverage on their customers, but we offer our space and manpower. The owners share similar values and mindset as us. To create an organic growth brand takes too long to get the brand awareness. Besides, competition within this sector is stiff too."

The Seating Capacity at Jack's Place Toa Payoh is as follows:

Both Dining and Ice Cream area (158 persons).

Price difference between takeaway and dine-in lies in service charge.

In the Toa Payoh outlet, guests get to relax and enjoy Udders ice cream while dining with their families and friends.

Udders Ice Cream was started on a whim and a dream in 2007 by husband and wife team David and Peck Lin, who are even now still having "mooch" fun running their ice cream shops. David, also known as Chief Milkman, was a former Science teacher who ditched his books for the truly experimental world of ice cream. Peck Lin was a former lawyer who decided it was more fun to dabble in ice cream.

Udders Ice Cream is proudly made fresh in Singapore and offers honest ice cream made with good ingredients. Udders is known for their small-batch production with ingredient preparations made by hand. This method allows Udders to constantly invent new, exciting flavours and keep customers guessing what's coming out next. 'We have a Gin and Tonic sorbet for the Christmas festive season!" the owners added very excitedly.

Udders is also known for its niche in potent liqueur ice creams, where the volume of liqueur can be 5%. "We like our customers to get high on our flavours :) Our Asian flavours, particularly our Mao Shan Wang durian and Botak Coconut, have also gained a loyal following from all parts of Singapore," says the owners.

Udders is the official ice cream partner to Gardens by the Bay, and is proudly sold throughout the spacious grounds of this Singapore iconic attraction.

    About Jack's Place
It all started when Mr. Say Lip Hai arrived in Singapore from Hainan island and started as a cookboy with the British troops in Sembawang learning how to prepare the perfect roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. After learning the skills, he started his first restaurant, which was called Cola Restaurant and Bar in 1967. The restaurant served the British and Commonwealth troops and their families residing in Sembawang neighborhood.

Mr. Say Lip Hai's break came in 1968 when a British housewife tasted the steak prepared by him and suggested that he start a catering business in her husband's pub in Killiney Road. Her husband's name was Jack Hunt. Mr. Say agreed with the condition that he take over the whole kitchen operation leading to the birth of the famous Jack's Place Steak House. Jack Hunt sold the business to Mr. Say in 1974 and relocated back to England.

Today, the company is led by an aggressive management team, comprising of 2nd and 3rd generation family members and professional managers.

    About Jack's Cola Café
In 1967, the founder Mr. Say Lip Hai, took a lease in a shophouse in Jalan Legundi, Sembawang and named it Cola. In fact, it was Mr. Say who started the first Singapore restaurant chain and the family has always been sentimental about Jack's Cola.

Jack's Place with its revival plans have brought back the brand Jack's Cola Café featuring popular Jack's Place cakes and pastries, pies, and ice-cream collaboration with home-grown brands such as popular ice-cream creamery "Udders" and another local coffee brand "Smitten Coffee", and with the retail concept which sells Jack's Place marinated steaks, sauces, craft beers and boutique wines to Jack's Place serving steak and escargot platters at reasonable rates.
