IXG's Middle East Prefabrication and Modular Construction Summit 2016 held successfully in Dubai on 16-17 Feb 2016
The summit organized by IXG endeavored to create a platform for the construction industry to collaborate to discuss, debate and deliberate upon the key contextual influences, barriers of the industry and opportunities on offer by the industry.
- (1888PressRelease) February 26, 2016 - The precast and prefabrication construction industry's share is slated to reach USD 209 billion by 2020. With the said amount, it will see a higher year-to-year growth in the segment, at a CAGR of 6.50% between 2015 and 2020. Although there are many high quality prefab and modular constructions around the globe, the industry's reserved approach towards the adoption of these methods at large is yet to be experienced.
Supported by Dubai Municipality, Fujairah Municipality, UAE Contractor's Association and Sharjah Research Academy, Information Exchange Group (IXG) organized The Middle East Prefabrication and Modular Construction Summit 2016 which was held at Hotel Conrad, Dubai on 16- 17 February 2016, featuring the leading stakeholders, thought leaders and subject experts of construction industry.
During the two days of the summit, the attendees experienced interactive panel discussions, one to one business meetings, roundtable discussions and engaging presentations and while discussing business opportunities regarding specific technologies and emerging market trends amongst the project developers and material and service providers alike.
The summit brought together leading industry experts from organizations like Dubai Municipality, DuBox, Arab Engineering Bureau, ADNOC, National Engineering Bureau, KEO International Consultants, AECOM, DAMAC Properties Co, Mott Macdonald, Albaddad International, BAM International, Framecad, HDR International, Ranco & Zamil Concrete Industries, Speed House Group, Trimble, R.I. SpA, Smart Housing, DAMAC Properties, Petrofac, RAK Properties, Al-Futtaim Group Real Estate, DUTCO Group, RAK Municipality, Shapoorji Pallonji Mideast (L.L.C), Spacemaker, TSSC Group, Vekon, Fujairah Municipality, Sogeco International and Sharjah Research Academy from Government of Sharjah among others.
The opening remarks at the summit were given by Prof. Mufid Samarai, Senior Advisor, Sharjah Research Academy from Government of Sharjah.
The day also witnessed industry experts coming together to discuss topics including: Concrete Modular Construction, reducing the dependence on labor, improving safety conditions, Best Practices from Designing, Engineering and Construction, incorporating prefabrication and modular construction methods, MEP integrated construction projects, elimination of HSE and future interface risks. The day one ended with a round of one to one business meetings followed by a Gala dinner.
The second day of Summit witnessed open house discussions upon topics including Prefabricated Structures and Modular Automation. Interactive panel discussions addressed the topics of Redefining Material Acquisition and Procurement Approach, and Balancing Sustainability with Prefabrication & Modular Construction.
Other topics discussed included Offsite Manufacturing in the UAE, Integrating Innovation and Technology to improve Project Delivery, BIM and better designs. The summit ended with another session of one to one business meetings and networking break.
