iUniverse author Richard Atwood's book wins the top prize in the poetry category of the Los Angeles Festival of Books 2012.

"I was very happy to finally win a 'first place' award, as my other two books have only been runners-up. While there was no particular compensation, the recognition/acknowledgement of years of hard work and effort was definitely encouraging," Atwood said.
Death and Morning mostly deals with love but also touches upon other issues, such as fear, desire and compassion and much more. "I try to write accessible material, with which most moderately educated people can relate to or appreciate. Otherwise, why write?" Atwood told iUniverse.
At this year's LA Festival of Books several iUniverse authors were in the running for awards. Elaine Cooper's book The Promise of Deer Run took first place in the category of best romance while there were several runners up in the general fiction, children's and cookbook categories and numerous other iUniverse books received honorable mentions.
