itsyBiD Selects Mercy Corps as the Travel Auction's Nonprofit Partner for November and December
As the sponsored charity, Mercy Corps will receive $.05 from each bid spent on all travel auctions.
- Portland-Vancouver, OR-WA (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2010 - itsyBiD (www.itsybid.com), a new travel auction website that offers luxury hotel rooms, vacation packages and destination experiences to winning bidders, has selected Mercy Corps as its nonprofit partner for November and December. Each month, proceeds from itsyBiD's auction are given to a deserving nonprofit.
"We have an infectious philanthropic spirit here at itsyBiD," says Graham Keavney, itsyBiD's co-founder and CEO. "Giving back to our nonprofit partners like Mercy Corps is our humble and subtle way to help the deserving and underserved nonprofits in our communities. We invite travelers to participate in our auctions, while helping a remarkable organization."
How itsyBiD Works
• Each auction starts at an opening bid of one penny.
• Each time a bid is placed, the price only goes up by a penny.
• Auction participants-or "itsyBiDers"-pay for the opportunity to place a bid.
• The cost is 75¢ per bid-which are purchased on the site in bundles of 20, 50, 100, 250, and 500.
• Each auction is scheduled to last 24 hours.
• During the final seconds of the auction, each bid extends the length of the auction by 20 seconds, which allows the auction to continue as long as there is interest in the auction item.
• Active participation in bidding is required-there is no option for automatic or proxy bidding.
