ITON, Microsoft tie up for cloud solutions in Oman
ITON Corporation announced the launch of Comtech Global, as the Microsoft Managed Services Provider Division in EMEA. Comtech Global was inaugurated with Microsoft's presence in Oman on the 25th of June.
- (1888PressRelease) July 28, 2011 - ITON has partnered with Microsoft to provide its latest cloud-based software solutions to Omani businesses. However, as Microsoft already has licensing agreements with many Government Entities in Oman to provide cloud-based solutions, ITON will be focusing mainly on private sector enterprises.
Cloud Computing is network-based computing, where software, data storage and other resources are provided over a shared network. It allows users to access their company's business applications securely through the 'cloud' even without being in the office.
ITON has formed a new entity 'Comtech Global' as a first Microsoft Service Provider in Oman, the company announced on Saturday, the 25th of June 2011. ITON has also launched a 30-day risk-free pilot programme for Microsoft's SharePoint.
Siva Prasad, Chief Executive Officer, ITON, said businesses look to the cloud as a cost-saving alternative, reducing in-house servers and management staff, maintenance cost and all other additional cost which a business faces while running a traditional system.
"Cloud Computing is new in Oman and it will take some time for the people to adopt it. Microsoft is for the first time providing cloud solutions for private sector enterprises in Oman. All the businesses using this will get benefit as it reduces cost on IT requirements. Our focus is basically on the private sector enterprises", Prasad added.
