"I remember the days when an NHS trainee would be allocated over £1000 per year as contribution towards external training costs", says Olivier Picard, Managing Director of ISC Medical. "Nowadays, many trainees are only granted a training budget of merely £400, with harsh conditions attached to that money."
Such reduction in training budget is now leading NHS directors of education to look at more cost effective solutions such as running courses in-house or trying to negotiate deals with external providers.
