ISC Medical Comments on MMC and New Consultant Recruitment Process
One of the country's leading providers of medical interviews and interview skills consultancy services, ISC Medical, comments on how the new consultant recruitment process will impact trainees and established consultants.
- (1888PressRelease) February 11, 2012 - London, United Kingdom - Since the inception of MMC (Modernising Medical Careers) in 2007, the controversies surrounding the new recruitment process have been overshadowed by the drama caused by the Health and Social Care bill. In February 2012, trainees who joined MMC in 2007 will start to become eligible for consultants posts.
ISC Medical reports that some believe that the new trainees may be in for a rough ride as they compete against established consultants, whilst others feel that the new trainees may instead have the upper hand on their older counterparts since many trusts are actually looking for cheaper clinical resources.
Olivier Picard, MD of ISC Medical, commented: "In an era where current reforms are the central point of discussion, many of the interviews for consultants' positions will be centred on the candidates' understanding of those reforms and how they impact on the candidates' speciality.
"Established consultants may be able to offer greater insight and wisdom, whilst current trainees will need to ensure that they are fully up to date on current NHS issues. As such, attending management and leadership courses for doctors are likely to make a huge difference to individual performances at the interview stage."
