IRCC’s New Work Permit Stream for Hong Kong Residents
With an emphasis on attracting skilled and educated applicants from Hong Kong, the IRCC has introduced a new program for work permits.
- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) June 27, 2021 - In Feb 2021, the eligible Hong Kong Residents became eligible to apply for a three-year Canadian work permit. This program is designed to help the highly skilled and educated Hong Kong residents breathe fresh air with the opportunity to gain valuable work experience.
Who All Qualify for the Open Work Permit for Hong Kong Residents?
The new program is designed to provide opportunities to highly educated applicants with post-secondary education. The applicant should also have a valid passport issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) or the United Kingdom to the British National Overseas (BNO) to be eligible for the program mentioned above; Apart from this, the interested appellant should have also graduated within the last five years from one of the below-mentioned programs-
-> A degree from a designated Post-secondary learning institution in Canada or abroad
-> The applicant should have a diploma in a minimum two-year program from a designated Post-secondary learning institution in Canada or abroad
Any degree or diploma awarded from an outside Canadian institute needs to be assessed by a designed body.
How to Apply for the Open Work Permit for Hong Kong Residents?
The application process is simple and as per the guidelines of the new pilot program. The application is submitted online, and the port of entry applications are not accepted. Those candidates who are in Canada with their paper-based applications get accepted, but they need to be marked “urgent- Hong Kong Priority.”
The documents that need to be submitted for the Work permit are -
- Complete application form
- Civil status documents
- Copy of educational Credential Assessment or evidence of enrolment at a post-secondary educational institution
- Education Report from a designated body
- Proof of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) or the United Kingdom to the British National Overseas (BNO)
- Digital Photographs
- Work History proof
- Resume and cover letter
