- (1888PressRelease) April 12, 2013 - Leaders from the global oil and gas industry are confirmed to speak at the 7th annual Iraq Petroleum Conference, taking place 18-20 June 2013 at the Intercontinental Park Lane, London, UK. Iraq's oil and gas sector has attracted investment from the world's biggest oil companies to redevelop its oilfields and become the second major producer in OPEC. Iraq's plans to spend $130 billion on their upstream sector over the next five years and the pledge from Iraq's oil minister, Abdul Kareem Al Luaibi, to allocate $18 billion to raise natural gas output and the promise of a fifth licensing round, is expected to encourage further investment from the global oil and gas industry.
Nawar Abdulhadi, Conference Producer for Iraq Petroleum 2013 commented: "Key figures from across the industry including IOC's, independent oil companies and financial institutions, will provide essential insights into working in Iraq. Their experiences of entering the market and abiding by the financial framework for oil contracts will provide key information for any new company looking to enter and invest in Iraq".
The Iraq Petroleum Conference brings together leaders of Iraq's oil and gas projects, investors and senior figures from the energy industry, to discuss best practices for promoting growth in the Iraqi oil and gas sector. The Conference discusses strategies for increasing oil production to meet the ambitious 2020 oil production target set by the Iraqi government, and the international investment needed to achieve this.
