iPhone App that Blocks Drunk Texts Hits iTunes Top Sellers List
The Textalyzer iPhone app uses response time games to prevent people from sending drunken text messages they might later regret. Within a week of being released in the iTunes Store, Textalyzer hit the 'iTunes New & Noteworthy List' along with reaching #101 for Top Paid Entertainment Apps.
- (1888PressRelease) May 10, 2011 - Austin, TX - For the people out there who love Texting, and sometimes love doing it at entirely the wrong time, there is good news for you. The Textalyzer iPhone app uses response time measurement games to prevent people from sending drunken text messages they would probably later regret, as long as they do their texting from the app.
Samantha Deeter, the idea originator, partnered with Appiction, an application development company, to create the Textalyzer iphone app. The app itself is easy to navigate and will only set you back $0.99, a bargain when considering the humiliation the app will spare you.
Textalyzer allows users to create a list of people they shouldn't text when their judgment is impaired (exes, co-workers, discriminating family members and friends), and then runs the app user through a series of virtual sobriety tests before you are allowed to send a text to them.
If the user fails the games, they are asked 12 hours later if they still want the message to be sent. The user can even create customized messages that will remind them of all the reasons why they might not want to text a specific contact.
"This is to prevent people from doing the ultimate no-no," Deeter said. "I was briefly single and would run around from time to time with girlfriends after work and on weekends and would always tell people, 'I wish there was a Breathalyzer for phones.' That's when I got the idea."
This cool, fun, and clever app has seen great immediate success. Within a week of being released in the iTunes Store, Textalyzer hit the 'iTunes New & Noteworthy List' along with reaching #101 on the list of Top Paid Entertainment Apps.
Deeter said an Android version of the app will likely be developed soon if the iPhone version, which was released early last week, continues to see the success it has shown to date.
