Interstate Container Helps Mountaire Farms Distribute Thousands of Thanksgiving Meals
As Thanksgiving approaches, Interstate Container supports Mountaire Farms' 19th Annual 'Thanksgiving for Thousands' food drive.
- (1888PressRelease) November 27, 2013 - As Thanksgiving approaches, Interstate Container once again joins long-time partner, Mountaire Farms, to spread the holiday spirit with the 19th Annual 'Thanksgiving for Thousands' food drive. Interstate Container will assist Mountaire Farms in packing and distributing Thanksgiving meals to over 50,000 Delmarva residents. This year, the food drive will also provide meals to 2,200 residents in North Carolina (NC).
Community spirit is the foundation of Mountaire's Thanksgiving for Thousands program, which brings together hundreds of volunteers, including employees from Mountaire and Interstate Container, working hand-in-hand to pack over 10,000 dinner boxes in time for the Thanksgiving holiday. In addition to Selbyville, DE, this year volunteers also gathered in Lumber Bridge, NC, cultivating lasting partnerships among residents, companies, and other contributors in Delmarva and North Carolina.
Each Thanksgiving box to be distributed will include all of the necessary ingredients to cook a nutritious holiday dinner for up to six people. These ingredients include a Mountaire roaster, corn, string beans, pork and beans, yams, stuffing mix, gravy, cranberry sauce and brownie mix.
During Thanksgiving week, dinner boxes will be distributed to food pantries, governmental agencies, churches, and shut-ins.
Interstate Container plants in Cambridge, MD and Reading, PA worked closely with suppliers Mark/Trece, Inc. and Stafford Cutting Dies, Inc. to produce and donate the 15,000 corrugated boxes needed for this food drive, as well as other Mountaire initiatives throughout the year.
