Intersec 2012 Ends Successful Three-day Run
With safety, security and policing high on the agenda worldwide, Intersec 2012, the Middle East's most comprehensive trade and networking event for the homeland security, policing, fire & rescue and safety & health industries.
- (1888PressRelease) January 18, 2012 - With safety, security and policing high on the agenda worldwide, Intersec 2012, the Middle East's most comprehensive trade and networking event for the homeland security, policing, fire & rescue and safety & health industries, completed its three-day run on a rousing note at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre yesterday (Tuesday, January 17th).
The show floor was abuzz with large numbers of trade visitors, buyers and key decision makers from around the wider MENA region. Trade visitors were keen to seek out the latest developments in tactics and technology and organiser Epoc Messe Frankfurt reported healthy feedback from participating exhibitors, who came from over 50 countries.
"We've had a very successful three days with exhibitors reporting considerable business being conducted and prospects for future deals generated at the show," said Ahmed Pauwels, CEO of Epoc Messe Frankfurt. "With the Middle East being such a significant target market for the industry, Intersec 2012 is proud to play an enabling and facilitating role in the further development and evolution of the regional industry," he added.
The first ever Global Network Conference for Emergency Medicine also completed a highly successful debut run on the sidelines of Intersec. The conference, which mainly attracted Emergency Medicine physicians from the U.S., Europe, Canada, Middle East and Arab countries, provided an exchange of knowledge and experience in this new field of medicine.
Dr Saleh Fares, Consultant of Emergency Medicine at Zayed Military Hospital and first board certified Emirati in the field, said: "It was a great experience to network and learn from international experiences and we look forward to maintaining this relationship with our colleagues internationally as this will help us save more lives in the U.A.E."
With recent figures released by the British Security Industry Association Export Council, highlighting the increased Middle East demand for the latest security systems, Intersec 2012 attracted huge interest from suppliers and manufacturers from across the globe. Nearly two-thirds of the BSIA's Export Council's member companies (62.5%), who responded to the survey and were active in this pivotal region, reported that they had witnessed a notable increase in their business revenues from the Middle East over the past 12 months.
As well as the major players represented at the event, Intersec 2012 also attracted 13 country pavilions that brought together small and medium sized exhibitors under one roof. The German Pavilion, with 41 companies was one of the largest with a large number of partners reporting encouraging results from the event.
Key member of the German Pavilion, Bosch Security Systems, reported great interest in their product line which included Building Integration Systems, Video Monitoring Systems and Public Address and Evacuation Systems. "We showcased complete integrated safety & security solutions at Intersec 2012", said Santosh R. Pillai, Head of Product Marketing & Projects. "We feel that the quality of visitors is better this year. Intersec is a focal point where we meet our patners who can get their distributors here."
"I was looking for a specific type of monitoring system to install in my warehousing facilities in Suez", said Amir Youseff, who had made the trip from Egypt. "Intersec has brought forward a great variety of possible solutions to my needs," he said.
Jamal Al Enezi from Qatar found the security-enhancing lighting systems that he was looking to set up in his factory premises on the outskirts of Doha. "I have been coming to Intersec over the last three years and I knew this was the event where I could find what I needed," he added.
Expecting good results from participation in the shape of impending deals with Saudi and UAE buyers was Sean Ellis, Customer Support Manager of Hesco Bastian. "We generally have great results from Intersec, which is why we participate regularly," he said.
Another exhibitor satisfied with the show's pulling power was Yoanne Goorissen, Area Sales Manager of International Control Machines SA. "We are targeting customers from the Gulf countries and are extremely pleased with the results so far," she said.
As part of Messe Frankfurt's continuing campaign against counterfeiting, the organisers launched the Intersec Anti-Counterfeit Pavilion at the show. Supported by Underwriters Laboratories, the pavilion brought together key industry experts to discuss the latest issues and regulations concerning the fight against counterfeit products.
The three-day programme of seminars and workshops drew intense interest from industry professionals and regional and international experts. Touching on key topics, such as Maritime Security, Commercial and IT Security as well as Fire Security the programme drew appreciation from all concerned.
Trevor Ferra from Sudbury, Canada took the top honours in the gruelling test of strength, endurance and skill that was the Third UAE International FireFit Championships, held outside the exhibition halls. Finishing in second place was Pierre Gregorat form Strasbourg, France, while Vincent Heiligenstein, representing SDIS67 from France took third place honours. The field featured over 100 fire and rescue personnel from across North America, Europe and the Middle East.
