Committed to social responsibility, giving back locally, nationally, and internationally is a big part of the IU company culture. Some causes that IU gives back to include the Syrian Community Network, the Muslim Community Center, the FBI Citizens Academy, the Alzheimer’s & Dementia Resource Center, the San Diego Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, Endangered Species International, and Survivors of Torture International. Always connecting with good causes and those in need, doing their part to try and make the world a better place, they hope to inspire others to do the same.
From volunteering with food banks and homeless shelters, to assisting refugee families assimilate to their new homes here in the US, to working with PATH (People Assisting the Homeless) providing housing, food, medical/street outreach programs, mental health support and more to the homeless, IU is involved in so much. This giving back includes mentoring 100’s of up-and-coming entrepreneurs in the business community through SBA SCORE and the Chairman’s Roundtable, and inspiring and preparing young San Diegans to succeed and become future leaders in business through Junior Achievement San Diego. IU also works with NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) every year providing free language services for their NORAD Tracks Santa Program, translating their website into 8 languages along with doing their foreign language voiceover support for the Santa Tracker Phone Hotline.
IU Vice President Shamus Sayed said, “This award reflects our ongoing commitment to give back, support diverse causes, and inspire positive change. At IU, social responsibility is not just a commitment, it's ingrained in our company culture and we are so proud of it.”
Over the past 11 years and throughout a global pandemic, Best in Biz Awards has seen nominations from the best in global business and 2023 was no exception. As in prior years, the judges remarked that choosing winners was a sizeable challenge, noting the entrants’ global and local impact, innovative technological solutions, employee-focused programs, and community and environmental outreach.
Winners in the 11th annual program were determined based on scoring from an independent panel of judges from a variety of top-tier publications and media outlets and representing all continents and a total of 15 countries and all continents.
