Internationally Recognized Leader in Integrative Medicine, Dr. Victoria Maizes, Is Featured Guest for The Vital Life Radio Show on March 25th
Dr. Victoria Maizes will join Dr. Carolyn Ross on The Vital Life Radio on March 25th to discuss Maintaining Fertility in a Toxic World.
- (1888PressRelease) March 22, 2011 - The Vital Life: Awakening Your Full Potential is hosted by well-known author, speaker and integrative medicine pioneer, Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross. She and her guests cover topics such as relationship issues, compulsions and addictions, handling family and life challenges, addressing health issues and anything that stands between you and your ability to awaken your full potential. The Vital Life will expand your understanding of how to live life fully and joyfully by making conscious choices that promote and maintain vitality in all areas of your life.
Dr. Maizes will elaborate on how to Maintain Fertility in a Toxic World. There are challenges to fertility today that our mothers and grandmothers never faced: new birth control methods that allow women to delay childbearing; unprecedented cultural pressure to be thin-and, on the flip side, epidemic obesity-both of which take a toll; high rates of hormone-disrupting stress; toxins permeating everything from our water bottles to our lip gloss, as well as the food we eat and the air we breathe; and many more. Dr Victoria Maizes discusses the latest research about how we-women and men alike--can best ready ourselves to conceive a child. Grounded in Integrative Medicine she assesses the whole person (body, mind, and spirit) and makes use of the best of conventional medical treatment, lifestyle intervention, and alternative practices.
Dr. Victoria Maizes is Executive Director of the Arizona Center for Integrative Medicine, and Professor of Medicine, Family and Community Medicine, and Public Health at the University of Arizona. She stewarded the growth of the Program in Integrative Medicine from a small program educating four residential fellows per year to a Center of Excellence training over 250 fellows and residents annually. As founding education co-chair of the Consortium of Academic Health Centers for Integrative Medicine, Dr. Maizes led a team of educators to create objectives for medical students in integrative medicine. Dr. Maizes lectures worldwide to academic and community audiences on integrative medical education, women's health, healthy aging, nutrition, and cancer. In 2010, Integrative Women's Health, the Oxford University Press textbook she edited, was published. ODE magazine named Victoria Maizes one of the world's 25 intelligent optimists in 2009.

"Dr. Carolyn Ross is a pioneer in the use of Integrative medicine for the treatment of mental health issues and eating disorders. Her compassion and understanding bring hope to patients and family members whose lives are affected by these difficult problems by showing us that transformation and healing at the deepest level are possible." - Andrew Weil, MD
Dr. Carolyn Coker Ross is a nationally known author, speaker and expert in the use of Integrative Medicine. She is Board certified in both Preventive Medicine and Addiction Medicine and completed a 2 year fellowship at Dr. Andrew Weil's Program in Integrative Medicine at The University of Arizona. While she graduated from one of the most prestigious medical schools in the US, she quickly learned that conventional medicine was not able to address the majority of her patient's day to day issues. What she learned from her patients and from facing her own health crisis changed the way she practiced medicine and expanded her understanding of what it takes to awaken your full healing potential and move from the curative paradigm of western medicine to the belief in the body's self-healing capacity and the possibility of a life of vitality and wholeness.
