Book's Launch Party To Benefit "Motel Kids".
- Santa Ana-Anaheim-Irvine, CA (1888PressRelease) September 30, 2011 - Internationally recognized humanitarian and award-winning restaurateur Bruno Serato will launch the sale of his autobiography, "Feeding The Kids Of America," at a book signing benefiting the nonprofit he founded, Caterina's Club, on Tuesday, October 11 at 11 a.m. The celebrated owner of the award-winning Anaheim White House catapulted to international acclaim for his extraordinary work in feeding local "motel kids," so named because their disadvantaged parents are relegated to living in cheap motels and meals are sparse. Several members of the Ducks will attend the book signing. Tickets, which include lunch and a copy of the book, are available for $55.
"Feeding The Kids Of America" is Serato's own account of his life starting with his early days in Verona, Italy, arriving in the U.S. with no money and unable to speak the language, eventually learning English while getting his first taste of the restaurant business, ultimately purchasing his own restaurant and enjoying its success, and finally learning about the problem of hunger in his own backyard and starting a nonprofit to meet the needs of the working poor.
Serato has been recognized the world over for his efforts, most recently as a 2011 CNN Top 10 Hero (votes are currently being cast for the ultimate prize). He also has received the Cornerstone Humanitarian of the Year Award on the steps of Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and Humanitarian of the Year honor from the Southern California Restaurant Writers Association. Caterina's Club has earned international recognition including stories in People Magazine and prime network coverage on the "CBS Evening News" as well as countless exposure in media all over Europe.
