- San Diego, CA (1888PressRelease) October 27, 2010 - Legendary photographer Aaron Chang has recently formed an alliance with world-renowned artist Wade Koniakowsky to open San Diego's first Ocean Art Gallery, the Aaron Chang Ocean Art Gallery. Located in the heart of the Cedros Design District at 415 S. Cedros Ave., the location is ideal for its theme.
"When people walk into our gallery, we want them to experience the ocean in a very visual way," said Chang. "My photography and Wade's paintings take visitors along the journey of our travels - where we've been, and what has inspired us to photograph and paint the pieces on display."
While he's tasted the cultures of more than 40 countries, Chang, an avid surfer, calls San Diego home. A legendary name in the action sports industry, Chang's work has graced the covers of more than 100 magazines. He is known for his ocean-inspired photography yet also has powerful images that capture the world of fashion, sports, travel and music. Koniakowsky travels extensively as well, drawing inspiration from his travels to tropical locales, but always finding there's no better place than San Diego to call home.
Also a surfer, Koniakowsky began painting when he was six and surfing when he was 12. By blending these two passions, he's gained worldwide recognition of his oil paintings of tropical interpretations. His work is currently displayed internationally as well as in 17 galleries extending from the East Coast to Hawaii and Puerto Rico. Many of his signature paintings can be seen in movies, television shows and surf competitions.
One of the Ocean Art Gallery's wrapped surfboards was auctioned at the UCSD Cancer Center Surfs for a Cure fundraiser recently and drew the second highest bid of all the auction items at the event.
"When we formed our alliance, we did so with the intent to give back to those causes that are important to us and our clients," said Koniakowsky. "An important part of our vision is interacting with non-profits in the areas of ocean environmentalism, humanitarian and education, and we donate a portion of proceeds to a variety of select causes."
The Gallery provides comprehensive client guidance to the public, private collectors, interior designers and art consultants Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. or by appointment. Visit in person or at www.aaronchangoceanart.com, 858-345-1880.
