Many new him as "Coo the Ghetto Poet" from his 2006 hit single "Freak n Me" featuring comedian Katt Williams on his debut album titled "In the Eyes of Coo". The album was distributed by Sony Music and gained great success. Two years later, Coo released his sophomore album titled "Trap Game". Just as it was getting ready to take off, Coo ran into trouble with the law and the project was put on hold. It would be another two years before he would resurface as his alter ego "Notorious Coo". Now, back in the game, Coo produces yet another hit single titled "Deejays". The song was entered in a music pool and instantly took off. Charting internationally week after week, Deejays made its way into rotation with virtually no marketing, no promotions and no recording contract.
"When I wrote Deejays, I just wanted to come up with the ultimate party track to get the party started, a hot track that would shout out all my Deejays everywhere", says Coo. "Without the Deejays spinning our songs, we got nothing."
The ongoing momentum generated from the single has earned Notorious Coo many bookings and an international tour. The excitement has also spun the release of the remix of "Deejays" in the coming week.
Notorious Coo was born in San Diego, California and grew up in Inglewood, California. No stranger to turmoil, Coo whose birth name is Mark Hamilton spent most of his teen life in and out of trouble. At the age of fourteen he was made a ward of the State. It was during that time Coo decided to focus in on the one thing that gave him peace and kept him out of trouble and that was his music, his ability to write and express himself through writing poetry and creating beats. After winning several artist showcases, Coo realized his potential and decided to use his talent, magnetic personality and business savvy to strategically get him with the right people and right situations. Before long, Coo found himself, writing lyrics to a track produced by Kanye West. He also signed to Chaka Khan's label and was part of a couple of mixed tape ventures that included Drake and Lil Wayne.
Coo is currently in the studio putting the final touches on his new album G.O.D. (Great Ones Destiny), scheduled to release in December 2012.
