International Forum "Collaboration of BRICS universities and research centres: education, research, innovations" will be held at Ural Federal University
Leading lecturers and researchers from the universities of BRICS countries will gather at Ural Federal University to discuss the opportunities of network collaboration in research and education.
- (1888PressRelease) December 04, 2014 - International Forum "Collaboration of BRICS universities and research centres: education, research, innovations" will be held at Ural Federal University on December 6-7, 2014.
The main objective of the event is the development of new educational programmes within the frames of the BRICS Universities League that is currently being created. The roles of general coordinators of the League's activities are played by Fudan University (China) and National Research University Higher School of Economics in Moscow (Russia). Ural Federal University will be responsible for the coordination of works aimed at the development of joint educational programmes. The start of this initiative will be marked with the launch of Master programmes in the spheres of social and political sciences and area studies. UrFU will be represented by the BRICS studies centre established on the basis of the Institute of Social and Political Sciences; the centre is formed in collaboration with the renowned sociologist, Professor Peter Wagner, University of Barcelona (Spain).
Several significant events will be held within the frames of the international Forum: international conference "Collaboration of BRICS Universities in multilateral format", youth scientific school "BRICS studies: problems and prospects" and the kick-off meeting of Global Educational Initiative of the BRICS University League.
Lecturers and researchers from the leading universities of BRICS countries will take part in the Forum; the list of the universities includes Witswatersrand University (South Africa), Zhejiang Normal University (China), Fudan University (China), Tsinghua University (China), Jawaharlal Neru University (India), Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), University of Mumbai (India), Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil), State University of Sao Paolo (Brazil), Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), Indian Institute of Technology in New Dehli (India), National Research University Higher School of Economics (Russia).
Professor Maxim Khomyakov, UrFU Vice-rector for International Relations, says: "In the context of special attention paid to the emerging economies, today BRICS countries have become the strategic partners of the Russian Federation in the economic and political spheres. It is great that now we are moving forward to build strategicс partnerships in the spheres of education and research as well. I hope that the Forum will set off the implementation of large-scale networking projects in the field of "advanced" education".
