- (1888PressRelease) February 23, 2018 - SRASSC (Sri Ramachandra Arthroscopy & Sports Sciences Centre) of Sri Ramachandra University has established an excellent infrastructure for the game of cricket at par with the best in the world. The outdoor/indoor practice facility is well supported by the Sports Science Department and the High Performance Training centre. International teams, Corporate,Clubs and State teams have recognized SRASSC as a one-stop-destination for their game development needs.
Mr.Dav Whatmore,a former International Cricket player is considered as one of cricket’s most renowned coaches. He has coached many national teams to success and was also the Director of BCCI National Cricket Academy for two years.
His management skills and caliber to mentor teams / young talent is widely acclaimed.
SRASSC has the potential and capacity to develop as an International Centre of Excellence. With International Cricket Council (ICC) spreading its cricket development initiatives to more countries, the game is becoming popular in most of our neighboring Asian and Middle-East Countries. These countries look upon world class centre like SRASSC for training of national teams and game development programs.
Seeing a great potential in this direction Mr.Dav Whatmore has joined hands with SRASSC in launching this International Cricket Academy of Excellence.
This would be a full-fledged Cricket Centre of international standards. This centre would be open for both men and women cricketers and offer its services for individual players,Clubs, Teams and Academies – from India and overseas.
The centre will offer coaching , comprehensive training and assessment facilities throughout the year.
There academy will be operating round the year and also conduct“Specialist/High-Power camps”- scheduled during the summer and winter sessions.
The academy would conduct the following programs
1. Global Cricket Academy Will be a full-time cricket academy for selected players for undergoing progressive skills development and training sessions throughout the year which would be conceptualized, conducted and supervised by Mr.Dav Whatmore
2. Annual Summer CampsShort duration summer camps for cricket aspirants shall be conducted with help of a panel of local coaches and with the guidance of Mr.Dav Whatmore.
Residential facility will be offered to those coming from outside the districts or states on
additional payment. Good talentidentified from these camps to be offered admission to
academy, specialist or high - power camps in summer and winter.
3. High Power CampsShort - duration, high power pre-
season
camps specially designed for established players, Clubs, National/State teams, etc.,
for their pre-season preparations. Directly run by Mr.Whatmore along with coaches of the respective clubs/teams.
4. Specialists Clinic (Summer/Winter). Short duration specialist clinics for fast bowlers, spinners, batsmen, keeper and fielding shall be conducted for teams/ individual players in summer and winter under the direct supervision of Mr.Dav Whatmore and Level -
3 specialist coaches from the SRASSC Panel.
5. Personal Training/Consultations Exclusive personal coaching /training for established players, directly by Mr.Dav Whatmore for technique corrections, consultations, suspect action rehabilitation etc. This shall be for short sessions with prior appointments and for limited number of players only.
