International Community Will Monitor Cambodia 2018 General Elections
The international community had expressed full support for the country democratic, transparent and open process with an International Observers Team deployed in the country. The July 2018 Cambodian National Assembly Elections are globally regarded as the most democratic and open in the nation recent history.
- (1888PressRelease) July 11, 2018 - The electoral campaigning period for the VI National Assembly in Cambodia has started and will continue until July 29, 2018.
The electoral process will be fully transparent, open, encouraging for people, political forces and civil society and mass media, announced the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Academician HUN SEN.
Academician Hun Sen, the national leader is widely credited with the economic miracle that fostered Cambodia`s recent development, re-establishing peace and security in the country and to making Cambodia as the only functional democracy in Indochina.
In numbers the 2018 Cambodia`s Elections for the nation`s parliament are comprising 8,3 million voters, 20 parties competing for 123 seats in the parliament and 65.000 international and national observers to watch the rectitude of the polls.

After the dissolution of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP), the situation in the country has experienced a rapid improvement in terms of dialogue, optimism and trust in the political process.
With the absence of the threats and violence from the political arena, a line of rapidly developing opposition party had flourished demonstrating the Kingdom of Cambodia political vitality and democratic prowess.
The international community from governments and INGO`s and CSO from Asia and Europe have expressed their support for the July 2018 Elections through financial assistance and deployment of observers and cooperation with National Election Committee (NEC).
Under the leadership of Mr. Sik Bun Hok the National Election Committee (NEC) has become recognized for his principles of Independence, Neutrality, Truthfulness, Justice, and Transparency and has garnered international community support and recognition.
Main international actors such as the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) and the Centrist Asia Pacific Democrats International (CAPDI), European Council on International Relations (EUCIR) , Parliamentary Assembly for Sustainable Development Goals (PASDG), Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe and Asia, Bucharest OSCE Conference, World Electors Monitors Organization (WEMO) will observe the elections and support the democratic process in the country.
