Person has an amazing timbre, superior vocal control and spirited delivery providing the perfect recipe for a memorable music experience. Fans of the artist will have a chance to add another jewel to their Robert E. Person musical collection with the upcoming release of his new project, Soul Sanctuary. Filled with ballads, which allow the vocalist to shine, and upbeat praise tracks, which let the listener get their step in, Person seeks to place the listener in the middle of his musical oasis with Soul Sanctuary.
The lead single from the upcoming CD is Donny Hathaway's inspirational ballad, "Someday We'll All Be Free". A classic made famous by the late R&B singer, the song has been an uplifting anthem for decades. Person decided to cover the song for a number of reasons. "It's been one of my favorite songs and Donny has been one of my favorite singers for years," recounts Person. "It has a wonderful message and has been covered by many sacred and secular artists. Although my rendition was arranged by Allyn Johnson, we stayed true to the classic nature of the original," explains the singer. "The orchestration is a little bit jazzier, but we made sure to keep the sentiment and the true integrity of the song. I think so many people can relate to the song because we all have something we want to be free from."
Other memorable tracks on the CD include a mesmerizing rendition of "Great Is Thy Faithfulness," the sweet, reverent song, "You" and the up-tempo "Gotta Praise", penned by fellow Gospel artist Kendall King. Person spans the musical gamut on the project and is clearly influenced by jazz, pop, R&B and of course, Gospel. Flowing effortlessly from the traditional to contemporary, Robert unabashedly expresses adoration and praise to God throughout the project.
Having studied music at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA, and at the University of the District of Columbia, the producer, artist, songwriter, and actor is no stranger to the music business. He has sung behind Karen Clark Sheard, Kelly Price and J. Moss and for Bobby Jones Gospel, all the while receiving one rave review after another. ReviewYou.com says, "Person glides along with his silky smooth tones and easily makes the transition to booming chest voice when needed. Each verse is delivered as an almost personal testimony from Person encouraging the listener."
The project will be available in retail outlets and online on Tuesday, July 12, 2011. The single, "Someday We'll All Be Free", is currently available through iTunes and Amazon and will be distributed and serviced to radio by Edmondson Communications, Inc.
