Please join us for this joyous holiday celebration and witness firsthand the positive impact of Inroads music therapy programs. In a recent article, “A major win for music therapy following world record haka event,” The Guinness Book of Records brought the title home to and raised thousands of dollars for the Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
The trust, co-founded by Dame Hinewehi Mohi, has spent two decades transforming the lives of people with disabilities and trauma through the power of music therapy.
Music therapy, described by the trust as a way to heal both mind and body, uses all elements of music to promote well-being, health, and development. “It’s about using all of music’s elements to support people’s well-being, health, and development,” Raukatauri Music Therapy Trust. music therapist Rachel Foxell says.
Named after Hinewehi Mohi’s daughter, Hineraukatauri, the trust provides life-changing therapy to individuals with special needs, including those with cerebral palsy, brain injuries, and mental health challenges.
On this side of the ocean, an August 2024 article in FORBES, “How Daniel’s Music Foundation Is Making Music More Accessible,” speaks about the success of this Foundation with people of different abilities, “One of DMF's most significant initiatives is the annual Danny Awards, described by Daniel as "like the Grammys for members of our community." This event, held this year on October 19th at the historic Town Hall in New York City, flew in celebrated musicians with disabilities from around the world.”
