Innovative Virtual Music Talent Competition with Donation - Based Voting Opportunities Extends Application Deadline, Opens International Entries and Welcomes Three New Nonprofit Partners
2014 Bands4Good Challenge Accepting Band and Solo Artist Applications Through Oct. 30.
- Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill, NC (1888PressRelease) September 23, 2014 - The 2014 Bands4Good Challenge™, presented by Doing Good Network™, is extending the application deadline that is currently open for its online music talent competition through Oct. 30. Based on strong interest from potential contestants and the recent addition of the United Kingdom and Canada as eligible locations for artists, the application deadline has been extended to give musicians additional time to prepare audio recordings for submission. The 2014 Bands4Good Challenge will provide unprecedented music industry access to unsigned artists of all genres, instrumentation and styles, while also raising money to ensure music is in schools across the United States.
Bands4Good is a new talent competition changing the fundraising paradigm by leveraging passion for music and an entrepreneurial approach to help the less fortunate. It is both a serious competition recognizing the best of the best in aspiring artists, as well as a fundraiser to benefit impactful music education programs.
Applications are being accepted in two divisions: the School Division is open to individuals or bands in which all members are between grades six and 12. Contestants must be 13 years of age or older. The Adult Open Division is for artists ages 18 and older. All entrants must not already be signed by a major record label. Winners will be recognized in a number of categories for each division, including Fan Favorite, Charity Champion, Judges' Pick and Best in Genre. Further information, the complete rules and the application form are available at www.bands4good.com.
"We're thrilled with the interest we're receiving for the 2014 Bands4Good Challenge and know the extended application deadline will help all musicians have ample time to submit their best entries," said Fred Fletcher Jr., Doing Good Network CEO and president, and Bands4Good co-founder. "Bands4Good is specifically designed to propel aspiring artists while supporting music education. The expansion into international markets and addition of more nonprofit partners will further drive the already impressive exposure opportunities provided to the contestants."
Following the application process, fans will have two opportunities to support their favorite participating musicians. First, fans can vote once per day without cost. Second, fans can purchase additional donation votes in package bundles in which the more money donated to support the cause, the more votes granted to the musician of their choice. Professional judges will also score each contestant's performance looking for exceptional talent.
The 2014 Bands4Good Challenge is focusing all of its philanthropic efforts on music education through select nonprofit partnerships. Donation votes will help raise money for influential organizations making a difference in this field, including:
- Little Kids Rock, which has given more than 300,000 under-served schoolchildren across the United States access to fun, engaging, modern band music classes and brand new instruments at no cost over the past 12 years.
- Arts for Life, which builds bridges and makes lasting connections between the art and healthcare communities of North Carolina with programs that teach visual arts, music and creative writing to patients.
