Innovation Center of the Rockies Wins National Award for Commercializing Research
SSTI Recognizes ICR's Contribution to Advancing Regional Competitiveness.
- Boulder, CO (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2013 - The Innovation Center of the Rockies, one of the nation's premier entrepreneurial support organizations, has received a national award of excellence from the State Science & Technology Institute (SSTI), for its work in commercializing university research in the Rocky Mountain region.
The ICR joined fellow organizations in Portland, where SSTI named six annual winners in separate categories, citing them as national models for states and regions investing in science, technology and innovation to grow their economies and create high‐paying jobs. The 2013 TBED Awards (Technology‐ based Economic Development) recognize creative use of resources and public‐private support spurring entrepreneurial activity.
"Through its network of more than 1,500 advisors, the Innovation Center of the Rockies puts the right people in the room for academic entrepreneurs and high‐potential startups to succeed," said Dan Berglund, SSTI president and CEO at the SSTI's 17th Annual Conference in Portland, attended by regional and national leaders in economic development from 40 states and four countries. "ICR's unique model provides the tools to transform high‐potential ideas developed at the region's research institutions into commercially successful startup businesses and job creation."
