- Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) December 10, 2010 - Inland Fiber & Data Technology Park (IF&D, www.inlandfiber.com) has been selected to host Florida LambdaRail, LLC (FLR), providing Central Florida access from Inland's Winter Haven location. FLR was created to facilitate advanced research, education, and economic development activities in the State of Florida, utilizing next generation network technologies, protocols, and services.
Inland Fiber & Data's hardened, carrier grade facilities include existing data center, disaster recovery and Internet gateway office suites, shell data center and colocation suites, existing rack space and build-to-suit data center pad sites, with a highly redundant infrastructure, provides an ideal host site for FLR. IF&D's protected inland location is accessible from both coasts of Florida, and is 168 feet above sea level, outside both the 500-year Flood Zone X and maximum wind-borne-debris areas associated with land-falling hurricanes. The facility has multiple fiber providers on campus and hosts numerous technology companies as well as University of South Florida Polytechnic's Blue Sky East Business Accelerator.
FLR is complementary to the National LambdaRail (NLR) initiative, a national high-speed research network initiative for research universities and technology companies. FLR provides opportunities for Florida university faculty members, researchers, and students to collaborate with colleagues around the world on leading edge research projects. FLR also supports the State of Florida's economic development and high-tech aspirations through its fiber-optic network infrastructure linking Florida's research institutions in support of large-scale, public or private, research, education, and outreach partnerships.
