RT PCR remains the most conclusive test for the detection of active Coronavirus infection. However, for health experts and institutions to understand the consequences of social interactions between people and to know if it’s safe enough to resume normal life, they will need to study the data of people who were infected with SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. These people are supposed to have developed immunity to the virus. Such immunity can be detected with a serological or Antibody Test that looks for proteins in the blood that the body produces after it has been infected with the virus. Serology or antibody testing is used to detect antibodies of SARS-COV-2 in the blood and provides evidence that the person carried the virus in the past. It is not recommended for COVID-19 diagnosis due to the kinetics of infection.
The newest test introduced by Indus is the Covid-19 screening test that detects certain protein parts of the virus. This test is done in a similar fashion like RT PCR - using a nasal or throat swab to get a fluid sample. An Antigen Test can produce results in minutes. It is quicker and not expensive like the molecular tests.
Both these tests are approved by Indian Council of Medical Research and the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Corporates can get these tests personalized for their employees according to the situation and number of employees. At an individual/employee level, these tests can be customized according to the needs and exposures of family members to the outside environment.
