Indonesia's outdoor furniture suppliers utilize sustainable methods to add value; expect robust export growth in 2011
Indonesia Sourcing Report: Outdoor Furniture offers volume buyers quality suppliers of wooden garden tables, benches, chaise lounges and outdoor bed, plus prices, trends and forecasts.
- (1888PressRelease) June 24, 2011 - HO CHI MINH CITY - To ensure sustainability and target sales growth by 10 percent this year, Indonesia's outdoor furniture suppliers are adopting eco-friendly materials from sustainable plantations and plan to keep quotes unchanged. This is according to the Indonesia Sourcing Report: Outdoor Furniture.
The Report features profiles of 33 export manufacturers with verified manufacturing and production capacity, plus descriptions, prices and packaging details for more than 161 top selling export products including garden tables and chairs, park benches, chaise lounges, gazebos, outdoor beds, sofas an stools
The non-profit Kearny Alliance produced the report with the support of Global Sources.
"Indonesia suppliers are adopting sustainable wood from government-owned plantations or private sources that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, as global buyers are concerned if products they import are involved with illegal logging," said Khiem Vu, program manager of the Kearny Alliance's Developing Country Export Assistance Program.
"They mitigate the sector's impact on natural resources by cultivating timber that can replace conventional kinds of lumber used to produce furniture. These include acacia, mango, breadfruit, and mahogany".
"They are optimistic about this year's export sales growth. In fact, more than 60 percent of suppliers interviewed for this report expect export sales to increase by at least 10 percent over the next six months."
Survey shows makers to hold export prices; Suppliers target EU markets
"Our survey shows more than 60 percent of the suppliers will hold quotes in the next six months, while majority of those who plan to increase them will carefully keep the price hike between five and ten percent," Vu said. "Nearly 75 percent are releasing new collections featuring simple and basic patterns with eco-friendly materials in the coming months."
Other supplier survey results show:
* More than 20 percent will focus on environment-friendly materials;
* 60 percent expect export sales to increase next year;
* 75 will target the EU market; and,
* Chairs & sofas take up 30 percent of total products exported; Outdoor lounges & beds make up 25 percent.
Total capacity of featured suppliers is 186,000 pieces per month. Their combined export sales reached $5.2 million, of which exports account for 90 percent.
