Since then, Mars has become a part of the independent film scene in the U.S. filming roles in movies like The Cabining and Curse of Mesopotamia. Her love for independent films, including Sorrow, comes from what she calls the "human element" of production.

At the Quad, the movie will begin at 11 a.m. At the Anthology Film Archives, the movie will begin at 10 p.m. Loredo will introduce the film at both screenings. She said she is excited to screen her movie in a city that appreciates the art of film.

"The city is a fusion of art," she said. "I know my film's concept will be greatly appreciated by those who recognize the value of artistry behind an independent film."

Sorrow follows the story of Mila Sweeney, a forensic psychologist who is kidnapped and tortured by deranged serial killers. However, she manages to escape in order to exact her own ingenious form of personal vengeance against her captors.

Vannessa Vasquez stars as Mila, Eric Martinez and Mary Etuk play serial killers Dale Rogers and Hersey Igor, Melissa Mars plays Detective Salinas, Donny Boaz plays Detective Farrell and Andrew Sensenig plays Chief of Police Gonzales.
