Indie Horror Film Sorrow Premiered at River Oaks Theatre on 21st Apr, 2015
Tonight, Houston-born writer and director Millie Loredo makes her directorial debut in her hometown.
- Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) April 23, 2015 - Her passion project for the last four years, indie horror film Sorrow, premieres at River Oaks Theatre at 2009 West Gray St. at 9:30 p.m.
Loredo and members of the cast, including Vannessa Vasquez and Melissa Mars, will participate in a meet-and-greet at Local Pour prior to the film at 8:30 p.m. and then participate in a follow-up Q&A once the film concludes. Tickets for the screening and follow-up Q&A session are now available online for $12.
Vasquez currently stars in Hulu Network's "East Los High" and recently received a nomination for a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Performer in New Approaches to a Drama Series. She said she is proud to work alongside Loredo to screen the indie film not only at the River Oaks Theater but also in five other theaters in four states across the country, including Georgia, North Carolina and New York.
"For [Loredo], this was her first film, and of course, I'm just starting in the industry," she said. "It is kind of a neat project for us to showcase ourselves and try to get ourselves out there, because we are both very committed to what we are doing."
The movie will begin at 9:30 p.m., and Loredo will introduce the film. She is proud to premiere the film in her and Vasquez's hometown before taking it on the road.
"I shot part of the film in Houston with many local resources and actors," she said. "I am excited to be able to share the film with all the people who helped make it happen."
Sorrow follows the story of Mila Sweeney, a forensic psychologist who is kidnapped and tortured by deranged serial killers. However, she manages to escape in order to exact her own ingenious form of personal vengeance against her captors.
Vannessa Vasquez stars as Mila, Eric Martinez and Mary Etuk play serial killers Dale Rogers and Hersey Igor, Melissa Mars plays Detective Salinas, Donny Boaz plays Detective Farrell and Andrew Sensenig plays Chief of Police Gonzales.
