    About Gagan Vij

    Born in 1971, Gagan Vij's study as a fashion design, a period of apprenticeship under renowned sculptor Radhakrishnan and a brief stint as an art teacher have all helped Gagan to master form, technique, intensity and skills required to be a successful sculptor. Capturing figures in their moments of contemplation, he plays with clay and wax and works on the textures and balances to get the required angular movements. An artist of great promise, he is making his presence felt in the contemporary Indian art scene. He has shown his works at several exhibitions, and has also undertaken commissions for a number of private collectors, institutions and site-specific public projects. He has created bronzes ranging from a miniature size of half an inch to larger than life size monumental works. Gagan has received much acclaim for his public art works, including the busts of renowned Urdu poet Mirza Ghalib, and Lala Lajpat Rai and a large sculpture of Raja Suraj Mal commissioned by the Delhi Development Authority and the Government of Delhi.
