Indian Children Watch Champion FC Barcelona Play
Children from the Premier India Football Academy had the privilege to watch the last Spanish league game at Nou Camp, Barcelona.
- (1888PressRelease) July 24, 2010 - Premier India Football Academy (PIFA) organized their first tour to Barcelona and their twenty first football camp to Europe this year.
Children from India enrolled for this exclusive camp to Barcelona. The campers were accommodated and trained at a luxurious mountain resort & spa in Barcelona. Various FC Barcelona teams use these fantastic facilities to break away from their routine training regime.
The camp was specially designed for Indian children to understand the Catalonian culture and the history of FC Barcelona which is undoubtedly the most successful football club in Europe at the moment.
The children were taken on a tour of the FC Barcelona training facility - Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper. They had the privilege to see FC Barcelona team train and later met them. The facilities boast of 5 grass pitches, 4 artificial grass pitches and 3 gymnasiums amongst other facilities. By next year they will have a residential facility to house their youth teams.
After the visit of the training facility they were taken for a city tour of Barcelona which included a visit to La Sagrada Família (church), Palace Espanya, Palace Catalunya, the Olympic stadium and finally a tour of Nou Camp in the evening.
At Nou Camp they got to see all the six trophies won in one season (2009) - La Liga, Copa del Rey, Supercopa de España, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the Museum. They also got a tour of the pitch and saw the stands displaying Barcelona's motto, "Més que un club," meaning "More than a club"
The following day, the children were taken back to Nou Camp to watch their favorite players - Messi, Iniesta, Henry, Ibrahimovic, Bojan, Xavi, Pedro, Alves, Yaya, Pique from FC Barcelona play Valladolid along with over 100,000 supporters. The children got to see the tiki taka style of football as they effortlessly won 4-0. After the match the children were treated to a spectacular fire work display and felicitation ceremony of Josep Guardiola's team as they won their 20th La Liga title by finishing with 99 points just 3 points ahead of their rival Real Madrid who finished on 96 points on the very last day.
The children trained for 8 days for 5 hours on artificial grass pitch. They played two friendly matches with the local teams. On the final day, the children were presented with a participation certificate, football and memorabilia of FC Barcelona.
The group was accompanied by two adults from India ensuring that the children totally focus on football and enjoy themselves. The next camp to Europe will be again to Barcelona.
The proceeds of these camps are utilised to develop teams from the PIFA community football project undertaken by NGO - PIFA Foundation for benefit of sports.
