India Canada on the verge of improving trade relations via Brand India Expo 2012

In the Light of this The High Commission of India in Canada is organizing Brand India Expo 2012 as part of its prestigious "Year of India 2011" in Canada to be held on the 13th and 14th of March 2012 at the Ottawa Convention Centre, Ottawa, Canada. This event has been envisaged to create a bilateral platform between India and Canada.
Canada and India have longstanding bilateral relations, built upon shared traditions of democracy and pluralism and strong interpersonal connections. The bilateral relationship is supported by a wide range of bilateral agreements.

In July 2011, Canada and India completed the second round of negotiations toward a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). In the second round, progress was made in the areas of goods, services, origin procedures, temporary entry for business persons, technical barriers to trade, sanitary and phytosanitary measures, and institutional provisions.
In support of Canada's growing engagement with India, the Government of Canada is committed to consulting regularly with all Canadian stakeholders: provinces and territories; municipalities; non-governmental organizations; the private sector; civil society and the Canadian public. To seek input from these various groups, the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) regularly convenes a multi-sectorial group entitled "Focus India." These meetings help DFAIT to broaden considerations related to Canada's policy and programming approach to Canada-India relations.
This Mega Expo would be one of its kinds where Pan India Industries and the Govt. of India are expected to meet and discuss investment in bilateral trade opportunities supported by the Foreign affairs and International Trade, Canada. TFO (Télé-Française d'Ontario) is also partnering this event to ensure every participant is mapped, promoted and funded. Indo Canada Ottawa Business Chamber (ICOBC) would be ensuring many business to business meetings and large participation as knowledge partners.
