- (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2012 - Salt Lake City, UT - For many healthcare professionals, continuing education forms an important part of their career development plan.
In a bid to meet this need for respiratory therapists (RTs) and provide them enhanced career advancement opportunities, Independence University has added a new emphasis area to its respiratory care program.
Respiratory care practitioners looking to move into supervisory or advanced clinical positions can now enroll in the Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care degree program with a Clinical Practice concentration at Independence University.
The degree program is designed to provide RTs the skills they require to pursue complex roles like patient educator, clinical specialist, case manager, and advanced clinical practitioner.
In addition to these positions, graduates of this program also develop the skills to pursue managerial or supervisory positions in a variety of healthcare environments, including hospitals, clinics, home healthcare facilities, and residential care facilities.
As part of their academic program, students are required to complete advanced-level courses in case management, cardiopulmonary diagnostics and pathology, neonatal-pediatric pathology and diagnostics, healthcare research, etc.
Since the BS in Respiratory Care is a baccalaureate degree completion program, only certified or registered respiratory therapists are qualified to enroll. In addition to the CRT or RRT credential, candidates interested in seeking admission to this program must have:
•A high school diploma or GED® credential
•An associate's degree in a related field
•Completed the online readiness test administered by Independence University
The program takes 22 months and is fully online, providing students the flexibility to earn and learn at the same time. Since classes begin every month at Independence University, candidates can set the enrollment process in motion as soon as they're ready to start school.
