Impact Broward Announces 2014 Community Impact Award Luncheon And Award Recipients Presented By Broward Health
Third annual community awards ceremony to acknowledge Broward County residents, officials and organizations for volunteer services on Oct. 10.
- Fort Lauderdale, FL (1888PressRelease) September 19, 2014 - Impact Broward (http://www.impactbroward.org), a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization solving community problems through the volunteer service of adults, announced today its 3rd Annual Impact Award Luncheon will take place on Friday, Oct. 10, 2014 from 11:15 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Renaissance Hotel, located at 1230 S. Pine Island Rd., Plantation, Fla.
Broward Health is the Presenting Sponsor of the Community Impact Awards this year. The awards ceremony will honor local officials, organizations and community members for their dedication and commitment to improving the lives of Broward County residents. The 2014 Community Impact Award recipients will include:
- Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz: Elected Public Official Service Award;
- Chief Judge Peter M. Weinstein and Judge Edward H. Merrigan, Jr. from the Broward County Veterans Court: Award of Excellence;
- Broward County Libraries: Nonprofit Partnership Award;
- Broward Health: Corporate Partnership Award;
- Cindy J. Arenberg Seltzer, President/CEO of Children's Services Council: Individual Award;
- City of Sunrise: City of Service Award;
- Shirley Summer: Edith S. Lederberg Wisdom in Action Award.
Impact Broward's Volunteer Public Service Awards will honor exceptional volunteers from its collaborating nonprofit agencies who served children, adults and nonprofits throughout Broward County. A committee reviewed nominations for recipients of the Volunteer Public Service Awards; recognizing the following Impact Broward supporters:
- Ena Bailey of Foster Grandparent Program: Public Service Award for Volunteering with Children;
- Luvonia McCray of Senior Companion Programs: Public Service Award for Volunteering with Adults;
- Carole Schwartz of Encore Connect Program: Nonprofit Capacity Building Public Service Award;
- Claire Jargiello and Howard Rothchild of Retired & Senior Volunteer Program/Executive Service Corps: Nonprofit Capacity Building Team Public Service Award.

Peter C. Leighton of Best Care (http://www.bestcare.net), a private-duty nursing and home health care company, is the chairman of the 2014 Community Impact Awards Luncheon. Leighton has extensive experience with senior care, private duty care and home health care services industry. He also serves on Impact Broward's Board of Directors.

"In Broward County, our efforts provide home-bound seniors, at-risk children and veterans the assistance and help they need to succeed in their quality of life. Impact Broward has actively served the Broward County community for 49 years. During the 2013 fiscal year, Impact Broward volunteers provided more than 264,000 hours of volunteer services. The organization offers multiple community programs including: The Senior Companion Program; Relief for Caregivers; Retired and Senior Volunteer Program; Foster Grandparents; Case Management Services; Encore Connect and RSVP Executive Service Corps and Veterans Helping Veterans Program.
