  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) December 18, 2009 - Naperbrook Golf Course, a facility of the Naperville Park District, was recently selected to receive a grant for the 2010 Sticks for Kids program. The National Recreation and Park Association, in partnership with Golf Course Builders Association of America (GCBAA), spearhead this national initiative to increase participation and create sustainable programming for youth.

Sticks for Kids provides ten sets of junior golf clubs, access to instruction cards, programming manuals and ongoing club maintenance to give kids a hands-on golf learning experience while empowering youth to succeed through the acquiring of life skills associated with golf – integrity, discipline, sportsmanship, etiquette and respect for self, others and the environment.

Naperbrook Golf Course was one of 100 agencies/organizations selected to participate in the 2010 Sticks for Kids program.

“We were very pleased to learn that Naperbrook Golf Course was selected to participate in the 2010 Sticks for Kids program,” said Ed Provow, Director of Golf Services. “This program is centered on the philosophy that children, regardless of socioeconomic status, should have the opportunity to play golf and the Naperville Park District certainly shares that philosophy.”

Additionally, Naperville Park District offers a scholarship program, which is available to Naperville Park District residents only, that provides a reduction in fees of 50% or 100% for programs. This program also applies to golf programs. Income eligibility is based on guidelines issued by the United States Department of Agriculture for free and reduced fee lunch programs. Scholarships are given based on family income levels and expensed based formula.

Inquiries regarding scholarship eligibility should be directed to the Naperville Park District 630-848-5000.
