- (1888PressRelease) July 13, 2011 - iiNet's CEO, Michael Malone, has been recognised for his leadership and contribution to the communications industry after receiving the Communications Ambassador 2011 gong at the ACOMM Awards in Sydney last night.
The award celebrates an individual who has shown strong leadership and contributed to the cooperative development and growth of the industry.
Michael accepted the award via video message and used the opportunity to urge industry members to work together to ensure the National Broadband Network is done right.
"We do live in interesting times. As the National Broadband Network begins to roll out around the country, it's important we all step up and insist the right technological solutions are implemented on the NBN regardless of political influence," Mr Malone said.
"We all need to help customers take advantage of broadband services and the future of the Internet in Australia."
"I'd like to thank the judges, Communications Alliance, Communications Day and the staff and customers of iiNet for allowing me to be here."
iiNet took home the Partnerships for Growth award for its collaboration with fetchtv, giving Australia's second largest DSL Internet Service Provider even more reason to crack open a bottle of bubbly.
