IIMK to host Yale and Harvard Dons in the International Symposium
Harvard and Yale along with a galaxy of stalwarts from the world's best institutions are gearing up at IIMK to debate and deliberate on the Indian spritual traditions for management.
- (1888PressRelease) January 14, 2012 - For the coming 2 days, Harvard and Yale along with a galaxy of stalwarts from the world's best institutions are gearing up at IIMK to debate and deliberate on the Indian spritual traditions for management. IIM Kozhikode has always taken the lead in highlighting the different aspects to management, be it gender diversity at workplace, social sensitivity and inclusive growth or sustainable development. Continuing in a similar vein and taking another step forward in this direction with the aim of 'Globalizing Indian Thought', IIM Kozhikode is organizing an international symposium on 'Practical Wisdom for Management from the Indian Spiritual Traditions' on 12th and 13th November, 2011. IIM Kozhikode is committed to 'Globalizing Indian Thought' and this symposium brings together the world's finest minds to examine how Indian spiritual traditions can be repositioned for managing the world in the 21st century. The event is being held in collaboration with prestigious foreign Universities such as Yale, The Academy of Business in Society (EABIS), European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD) and Conscious Capitalism Institute. This is a part of a series of conferences on practical wisdom for management from the world's spiritual and philosophical traditions organised by EABIS and Yale University.
As the birthplace of four major spiritual traditions, India has a played a uniquely important role in the evolution of human spirituality and this conference would aim to explore the nature and contemporary relevance of the Indian wisdom traditions for management and management education. "Leaders transform by creating new meanings for old forms and India, and Indian Management Thought has a lot to contribute to the world in this regard" says Prof. Debashis Chatterjee, Director of IIM Kozhikode.
The conference will be addressed by world-renowned thought leaders like Prof Ted Malloch from Yale, Prof. Srinivasan Pillay, Faculty of Psychiatry Harvard Medical School, Prof. Prasad Kaipa from ISB India, Prof. Rajendra Sisodia from Bentley University along with talks by other academicians and practitioners from all across the world. The event will involve discussions on how Indian spiritual traditions can impact, influence and address issues such as Decision Making, Ethics, Management Practices, Leadership, Marketing and Investment Practices in the current business world's scenario.
With the participants ranging from delegates from the industry and R & D organizations to academia and students, the conference will provide an opportunity to interact with each other, a platform to share diverse thoughts and promises to be an unforgettable experience which will add a new perspective and dimension to ideas and practices in Management.
