IILM Chosen Amongst 25 Institutes At The UN's PRME Initiative

  • (1888PressRelease) January 09, 2014 - Twenty five management institutes came together to support the notion and take responsible steps towards it and IILM Institute for Higher Education, New Delhi was one amongst them. It is the only Institute from India that participated in the program. The launch of the PRME was held on September 19, 2013 in New York, USA, under the UN Secretary General, Yukio Takasu.

    This elite sect of educational institutes plan to focus on framing guidelines so as to ensure holistic growth of future corporates, which will be our next generation leaders. These institutes plan to introduce educational reforms that would produce not just excellent managers but proactive citizens of the society as well.

    Representatives from each of these institutes attended the meet of Global Compact Leaders Summit for the year 2013. They concluded the meet with the vision to work proactively towards formulating and introducing educational reforms, irrespective of border barriers in order to produce better citizens of the global community who are excellent managers as well and IILM is commited to ensure the same.

    The Dean of the College, Prof. Rakesh Chaudhry, attended the meet representing IILM from India. After the event he expressed his veiws on IILM's inclusion amongst the PRME Champions. He said that the institute is proud have been bestowed upon with this honor. He further emphasized the institute's commitment towards achieving the aim of PRME and the fact that IILM is intent on producing socially resonsible business managers and corporate leaders.

    It was launched at the Global Compact Leaders Summit 2007 by the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and today, it holds more than 500 participants from 81 nations. It has three major groups that are looking after the various aspects of their prime goal. These groups are managing the following three fields- Faculty Development, Curriculun Development and Research with IILM being a co-leader for supervising the faculty development group.

    All the institutes that are a part of the PRME initiative have asserted to work together with the UN and other member companies and institutes. Collectively, they aspire to achieve the goalpost set by 2015. The UN Secreteray General, Mr. Yukio Takasu, said that the UN is venturing to explore the possibility of development in association with the leading corporates. He believes that in the forthcoming time, the management schools have a crucial role to play in shaping the future businesses. He encouraged the member institutes to ponder over methdologies through which the vision could become a success and also to develop curricular exemplars that could be followed by other institutes to work towards similar goals.
