- Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) April 02, 2013 - Ignite! TampaBay is a high-energy evening designed to inspire, educate, entertain and spark new ideas and conversations across cultures and disciples of the Tampa Bay Community. The evening's emcee will be Alexis Muellner, editor of the Tampa Bay Business Journal. Through fast-paced, bite-sized presentations community members get on stage and share their personal or professional passion. It's a great opportunity to meet smart, interesting people (if we do say so ourselves) and maybe even learn something.
Presenters have five minutes and 20 slides that automatically advance every 15 seconds. At Ignite! Tampa community members involved in technology, arts, communications, education, non-profit, the government sector and more will take the stage to answer this challenge.
The first round of speakers for this year's Ignite! Tampa event have been selected. This year's event will include: Mark Sharpe on Resetting the Local Economy, Santosh Hari on an Open GIS Project in Tampa, Steven Burnley on Robot Competitions to Make Math and Science Cool in School, Greg Ross-Munro on How to Understand the Geek Subculture, Kelli Chickos with a humorous talk on animal welfare, Daniel James Scott on getting a better focus in your life, Debra Campbell on Teaching Kids Entrepreneurship, Dan Jenkins describing how Jobs and Wozniak changed the world, and Cory Foy on Technology Apprenticeships as the real answer to a talent pool problem.
"We are pleased and honored to have such outstanding presenters for our third Ignite! event. This is a testament to the quality and variety of talent located in the Tampa Bay community. It is also a fun and inexpensive evening out and a chance to meet others in the community who are talented and passionate about sharing the exciting things happening in our area," says Sean Davis, one of the organizers for the event.
The third annual event will be held on April 25th at The Tampa Theatre from 530-11pm for a fun and enlightening evening complete with drinks and popcorn. The presentations are meant to "ignite" the audience on a subject, that is, to stimulate thought and action on the topics presented. The first Ignite! took place in Seattle in 2006, and since then the event has become an international phenomenon.
