IGEL Technology Signs Ingram Micro as New US Distributor
Industry-leading thin clients now available to wider range of US resellers and end users.
- (1888PressRelease) February 19, 2013 - Cincinnati, Ohio - IGEL Technology, a leading worldwide thin client manufacturer, announced today its new distribution agreement with Ingram Micro Inc., the world's largest technology distributor. Through this alliance, Ingram Micro will now deliver IGEL thin client hardware and software products to its established reseller channel across the United States.
"Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) offers a lucrative solution sale for our channel partners throughout the U.S., and represents a growing market opportunity that spans across small and mid-size businesses, as well as enterprises," says Bill Brandel, director, Ingram Micro Advanced Computing Division, U.S. "IGEL Technology's thin clients extend our advanced technology portfolio and complement our growing and broad lineup of virtualization-focused vendors and VDI solutions."
As part of the agreement, Ingram Micro will offer IGEL Technology's full range of Linux and Windows-based thin client products. IGEL thin client hardware and software are vendor agnostic solutions designed to work with the widest variety of peripheral devices and protocols, including VMware, Citrix, Microsoft and Red Hat. This new distribution alliance broadens IGEL's ability to serve more enterprises in the United States, as well as Ingram Micro's ability to provide customers with another critical component of VDI projects.
"We are excited to team with world-class distributor and broaden our reach throughout the U.S. reseller channel," said Jeff Kalberg, General Manager, IGEL Technology America. "Ingram Micro really understands how to deliver the most appropriate and cost-effective solution for any virtualized environment. By working with Ingram Micro, authorized IGEL partners will now be able to source all of their VDI solutions from one place, which helps simplify the sales, support and delivery process."
IT research company IDC reports that more than 3.6 million thin clients were sold worldwide last year. With close to 80% of mid-size companies considering VDI as part of their IT strategy, and nearly half of those strategies involving thin clients, sales are only expected to grow. IGEL's new agreement with Ingram Micro is a vital step towards fulfilling that demand and achieving American growth targets.
