IEEE CS to Live-stream Microsoft Research Faculty Summit with Bill Gates
IEEE Computer Society on 15 July will live-stream the Microsoft Research Faculty Summit, where Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates will deliver a keynote on the role of computing in solving global problems.
- Cincinnati, OH-KY-IN (1888PressRelease) July 16, 2013 - The two-day event at the Microsoft Conference Center in Redmond, Washington, can be viewed via IEEE Computer Society's Computing Now site at http://www.computer.org/portal/web/computingnow/fs2013. This is the second year that Computing Now has streamed the event.
More than 400 academic researchers from 200 institutions and 29 countries will join Microsoft Research at the 14th annual summit to assess and explore today's computing opportunities. Selected keynotes and engaging interviews with top researchers will be broadcast live on July 15 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Pacific Time (12 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern Time)
This is Gates' first Faculty Summit presentation since 2005. His opening keynote, "Innovation and Opportunity-the Contribution of Computing to Improving Our World," at 9 a.m. PDT/noon EDT will be followed by questions from the in-person audience and online viewers. Gates' keynote will also be rebroadcast later in the day.
Also delivering keynote presentations this year: Doug Burger will discuss how changes in the hardware ecosystem will disrupt computer science. Peter Lee and Jeannette Wing will examine how basic research helps everyone. Clay Shirky will explore user-centric approaches to data.summit agenda and will foster rich and engaging discussions.
