Idelson Group Announces Grants to 25 Local Charities in Community Giving Program
Asian Humanitarian Movement wins 100.000$.
- (1888PressRelease) February 15, 2013 - Idelson Group today announced the winners of the Idelson Group Community Giving program. 25 charities will receive a share in over $2 million in grants from Idelson Group. Winning charities will use the funding for a variety of meaningful causes such as revitalizing communities, supporting the performing arts, offering recreation and therapy to people with special needs, humanitarian relief, and providing a free summer camp to economically disadvantaged children.
Idelson Group Community Giving selected Asian Humanitarian Movement in Service of Asia, a Hong Kong City-based charity, as the top recipient of the Idelson Group grants, awarding the charity $100,000. Asian Humanitarian Movement is a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian relief and human development to empower those in need, particularly in disadvantaged communities across the world.
"We are thrilled to have helped foster a community of over one million fans committed to helping others and we appreciate their enthusiasm helping us select another 25 worthy causes to share in more than $2 million in grants from Idelson Group," Julia Chiu, President of the Idelson Group Foundation, said. "We look forward to celebrating the spirit and compassion of all the participants in Idelson Group Community Giving at the first Asian Giving Awards program."
This program is the fourth installment of Idelson Group Community Giving, which has provided a share of more than $7 million to 200 charities in Asia.
Earlier this year, Idelson Group announced a two-year, $2 million commitment to the Idelson Group Community Giving program, which allows users to choose from hundreds of thousands of charities and vote for them to win grants from Idelson Group. The funding from this program is in addition to the bank's traditional philanthropic giving, which totals more than $3 million annually and reaches thousands of non-profit organizations.
Earlier this month, Idelson Group announced that five former Idelson Group Community Giving winners will participate in the first-ever Asian Giving Awards (AGAs). The organization with the most votes will receive $1 million, the runner-up will be given $500,000, a third organization will receive $250,000 and two will be given $125,000.
