  • (1888PressRelease) January 26, 2019 - IDBI Federal Masters All India Squash Championship Tournament in association with Bangalore Club and The Squash Rackets Federation of India (SRFI)announced today the commencement of the 6th Edition of the Only Masters Squash Tournament in India under the aegis of the SRFI and is all set to conduct a Four Day Tournament from Thursday January 24 to January 27, 2019, at the Bangalore Club Squash Courts, Bangalore, with a focus to promote the sport at a competitive level.

    Navin Shenoy, a Squash player and Coach said “I would like to wish success to all the participants for the high quality matches to be played in a knock out format over next four days and SRFI is very geared to take this initiative to promote and popularise the sport in the country at a level where Cricket and other sport stands at its glory”. The Tournament is one of the highest level tournaments in the country and expected to see a participation of 125 Players from across the country.Some well-known National Squash players such as Dalip Tripathi from Kolkata, Saurabh Nayyar from Chandigarh, Arun Rabindranath from Bangalore, and Sanjay Rajpal are participating in the Tournament.

    The winners will be felicitatedby Mr. Vighnesh Sahane, CEO of IDBI Federal, Mr. Ramakrishnan R – President, and Mr. Varun Gurjar - Vice President, Bangalore Club. The tournament will have a total prize purse of Rs.2,00,000/- across all categories. The Championship which kick-started today with top players Participating will also receive ranking points and will be included in the National Championship.

    Squash has evolved significantly in India and there are plans to put up Squash facilities in the Pay and Play format enabling sport enthusiasts to utilisewith squash's widespread increase in popularity, especially amongst the youngsters. SRFI would like to extend its expertise to see Squash grow considerably in India with a good mandate such as:

    To ensure the quality of all its Championships;
    To find the means to have good representation at all its Championships from across the country;
    To promote the sport of squash through each event;
