  • (1888PressRelease) September 12, 2013 - The creative team of William E. Simpson and Rob Underhill are working to bring a new reality TV show titled 'Missionary Wars' to viewers worldwide. 'Missionary Wars' is based upon the problems experienced by aboriginal peoples when they are beset by modern man, starting with the people in the island nation of Kiribati.

The pilot episode of "Missionary Wars" will be filmed on location at the extremely remote tropical atolls and islands in Kiribati, which are surrounded by an incredible oasis of life that exists on the coral reefs. Juxtaposed against this 'oasis of life' is the illness and death that stalks the children and adults living in this ocean domain. "Missionary Wars" will also highlight the unique culture as well as the struggles of the Kiribati people, who are suffering from a range of serious medical problems, where many children and adults die from a simple lack of clean drinking water and basic medical and dental care.

Today, teams of missionaries and NGOs are dealing with many medical issues that are present on many of these very remote islands. The islanders in Kiribati have an amazing and rich culture that can be traced back for more than a thousand years. It's interesting to note that for a time Robert Louis Stevenson lived in Kiribati on Abemama Island, which is intended to be the filming location for the pilot episode of 'Missionary Wars'.

In a prior press release, Simpson and Underhill, put out the call for production financing partners, which are still needed, and equipment sponsors; in addition to financiers on this project, the project is still seeking solar panels, water purification systems, desalination plants, communications and other infrastructure for 'Missionary Wars', equipment that is desperately needed on these primitive and remote islands. In addition to benefiting the islanders long-term, donated equipment will be used on-air when the pilot episode is filmed.

The call for support is being answered: Icom America's initial donation of shortwave radio equipment has raised awareness that has led other generous sponsorships.

e-Marine Systems of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Primus Wind Power of Lakewood, CO have co-sponsored an Air-Breeze 12-volt wind-generator, SurvivalBased.com of Orem, UT is donating a Solar-Generator unit, SilverFire of Eugene, OR has donated bio-mass rocket stoves and Hardened Power Systems of Pulaski, TN donated a Re-Volt power pack for the film crew. Additionally, Gary Morgan, the Executive Director for 'Search For One' missions in Moses Lake, WA has agreed to provide logistics support for the film crew and the Missionary Wars project while on location in Kiribati, which certainly serves as their blessing for the project.

Additionally, Tara Dodrill wrote a great article that was featured in the INQUISITR online magazine about the 'Missionary Wars' project: http://www.inquisitr.com/910752/new-prepper-television-shows-in-the-works-interview/.

"There is a strong sense of public and corporate community coalescing around the "Missionary Wars" reality TV show project. This is why I signed up. Time and again corporate sponsors are stepping up, donating equipment that will be truly transformative to the island people. These generous companies show their support of this humanitarian effort and in turn do part to shore up the public perception of the show's viability as a tool of education and entertainment. They are as excited as we are by the prospect of bringing these dream-like landscapes and lives of the heart-filled indigenous peoples to television viewing audiences across the globe. I will continue on the project with a sense of pride and giddy anticipation as we move forward." - Rob Underhill the Producer/Director for 'Missionary Wars'.

"I can only imagine how excited and thankful the islanders at Abemama Island will be once we implement the equipment that has been so generously donated thus far. Rob and I have a vision of a reality TV show that will truly benefit aboriginal peoples around the globe. The basic concept behind Missionary Wars is take viewers on a world-wide expedition, one episode at a time, to the most amazing and beautiful wildernesses on the planet. At the same time we intend to raise global awareness regarding the serious challenges that are currently faced by aboriginal peoples who live in these 'paradises', starting with the Pacific Islanders.

Using a 'reality TV' format, we intend to provide 'infotainment' to audiences in way that allows audience members to truly understand and to help mitigate the issues faced by aboriginal peoples who are beset by the problems that have accompanied the arrival of modern man. Using the reality TV format coupled with social media, we can offer viewers the opportunity to provide financial support directly to medical missionary teams on the ground using social media to drive 'crowd-funding' directly to the missionaries and NGOs through their websites using PayPal. What may be even more exciting, is then potentially seeing the results of sponsorships in action, on screen; something that I don't believe has ever been done before on TV, which will be accomplished through episodes that revisit various locations." - Capt. William E. Simpson
