IC³ World Cup Champions Announced by Certiport
800 teams from 20 countries compete in digital literacy competition to support foundational computer and Internet skills.
- (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2010 - Certiport (www.certiport.com), the leading certification solution provider for the global workforce and academic markets, announced the winners of the 2010 IC³ World Cup, a team competition developed to support foundational computer and Internet skills.
Certiport named the GITTC Flying Camels from Oman as the overall winning team from a pool of nearly 800 teams from 20 countries. The Flying Camels, comprised of 45 trainers from Global Skills, certified the most individuals in the Internet and Computing Core Certification (IC³®), a credential that motivates individuals and job-seekers alike to certify their foundational computing knowledge.
"We are delighted about winning this competition, and in fact Oman is the first country from the Middle East to have won the IC³ World Cup," said Marie Taylor, Chief Executive Officer, Global Skills LLC. "It is a great achievement and underscores the growing awareness and need in Oman for digital literacy. Competing against teams from developed countries is definitely a boost for us and all the government employees who participated in the competition."
In its fifth year as an international competition, members competing in the 2010 IC³ World Cup earned points for their respective teams as they individually prepared for and achieved the IC³ credential.
"We host the IC³ World Cup to motivate and inspire students to seek certification and improve their chances of future success," said Ray Kelly, Chief Executive Officer, Certiport. "The competition is designed to get more students certified, and this year we awarded 8,200 IC³ certifications during the competition - which was an outstanding success."
