- (1888PressRelease) July 20, 2011 - Ian Randle Publishers will break new ground this August when it publishes the first Caribbean published textbook that is accompanied by web-based tools for interactive student learning. The publishers boasts this as a significant step that will put local educational publishing on a competitive footing with larger metropolitan publishers who have been quick to use their superior resources to gain a competitive edge over their local counterparts.
This textbook, Principles of Accounts for Caribbean Examinations will change the way students learn and study CSEC® Principles of Accounts through the complementary use of the student/teacher resource website, www.highschoolaccounts.weebly.com. The site features practice questions and answers, video tutorials, sample Student Based Assessment (SBA), and PowerPoint presentations; as well as allows students to independently assess and grade their level of performance with the use of marking templates with detailed mark schemes. The site also importantly puts users in direct contact with the authors. This interactive web-based tool promises to enhance the student learning experience.
Diedre Callam, the company's Textbook Division coordinator, says this book is only the beginning of many more such textbooks to come from Ian Randle Publishers. It is a part of the company's move towards a more technologically driven platform in textbook publishing geared towards making the student learning experience more interactive and engaging through online media resource tools.
Principles of Accounts for Caribbean Examinations is designed specifically for students preparing for CSEC® Principles of Accounts examinations. It mirrors the syllabus, covering topics such as Basics in Accounting, Accounting for a Business, Introduction to Ratio Analysis, among others, in an engaging and practical style that makes it easy for teachers and students to follow. The text includes chapter summaries for easy reference; provides exam style questions for student independent practice; and uses illustrative drawings, tables and diagrams for user clarity.
Principles of Accounts for Caribbean Examinations is also complete with a supplementary CD for student revision and practice.
CSEC® Principles of Accounts teachers, hail this new book as a refreshing text that is concise yet comprehensive. 'Principles of Accounts for Caribbean Examinations covers the syllabus comprehensively. It is well-written, easy to use and extremely understandable,' says Briget Ann Scott, Senior Lecturer in Accounting at Excelsior Community College, Kingston, Jamaica. Wendy Lee, Secondary III Teacher of Principles of Accounts for over 13 years at Holy Faith Convent in Trinidad and Tobago, says 'Principles of Accounts for Caribbean Examinations is a comprehensive, refreshing book with examination style Paper Two and Paper One multiple choice questions, which really meet the needs of the demanding syllabus while stimulating interest in students. This student friendly book is an excellent choice for CSEC® students.'
The authors, Lystra B. Stephens-James, Nigel Cooper, Lesley Burrows and Kirk Philips, are all teachers of Principles of Accounts.
