Hyundai Welcomes Its 100,000th Tour Guest at Alabama Plant Using Sennheiser Tourguide System
Sennheiser Tourguide Provides Hyundai Staff with Ability to Host Engaging Plant Tours.
- (1888PressRelease) October 23, 2012 - Old Lyme, Conn. - Audio specialist Sennheiser recognized Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) for its milestone achievement of 100,000th tour visitor. The Sennheiser Tourguide system has been an instrumental component in helping HMMA usher guests through its automotive manufacturing plant in Montgomery, Alabama. The plant, which manufactures the company's Elantra and Sonata automobiles, has been using Sennheiser's Tourguide headsets since the tour program began in October of 2005.
HMMA initially installed 60 Tourguide 1030 series wireless headset units but soon after added another 40 units due to the increased amount of tour guests. With eight hours of battery life and a rugged design that can sustain multiple drops from the thousands of annual visitors, the Sennheiser Tourguide system has enabled HMMA to offer live, interactive tours of its manufacturing facility, which is 3.5 miles long.
"Without the Sennheiser Tourguide, it would not have been possible to give tours to 100,000 people over the last few years," said Tim Haseltine, assistant manager, public relations and tours, HMMA. "The system gives us the ability to talk live, be spontaneous and react to various things that happen on the tour. The end result is that our guests have a great experience."
In noisy environments like the automotive manufacturing plant, the Sennheiser Tourguide system connects the tour conductor directly to the guests with pristine, clear audio. The wireless function of the headsets not only provides crisp and intelligible audio for the constant stream of guests and tour groups, but also provides HMMA with significant cost savings in repairs and replacements since it is so durable, Haseltine said.
HMMA broadcasts on three separate frequencies so it can conduct up to three separate tours or provide translations for non-English speakers - all with no interference. "We translated and recorded the 'live' tour in Korean. We then feed the narrative into the Tourguide system via an Apple iPod so Korean guests can understand the tour when our American tour guides are taking them through the plant," says Haseltine.
The original system used in the HMMA facility was deployed by Sennheiser dealer Baycom, and now the dealer will be helping HMMA upgrade to the next generation of the Sennheiser Tourguide system. Tourguide 2020 is a high-quality, reliable digital audio system. With up to 6 channels of crystal clear wireless audio, simultaneous tour groups are easily supported.
"The Tourguide 2020 system will give Hyundai added functionality and flexibility for its facility tours," said Vanessa Jensen, senior product specialist for integrated systems at Sennheiser's U.S. headquarters. "The superb sound quality and durability of the Tourguide wireless units has provided HMMA tourists with an exceptional experience since the facility opened in 2005."
