- Philadelphia, PA-NJ (1888PressRelease) May 15, 2012 - Bruce D. Wartman, the president of Hussian School of Art, is pleased to announce Heather Lesko, a sophomore and a resident of Cape May, NJ, was the national winner of a logo competition where 50 students submitted designs. The Association of Private Sector Colleges and Universities (APSCU) has held this competition since 1996 and reaches out to students to design the logo for their annual convention and exposition.
The APSCU Annual Convention & Exposition is the premier event for private sector higher education. There are approximately 1500 attendees and 300 exhibitors from the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The winning artwork symbolizes the Convention and is recognized as the official logo used throughout the promotional campaign in printed pieces, onsite signage, official Convention website and social media outlets. The convention committee served as judges.
Steve Gunderson, president and CEO of APSCU described the importance of APSCU and shares his appreciation of Lesko's talent. He said, "Our 2012 Annual Convention & Exposition conference theme is "Working Proud," and Heather Lesko created a design that captures the energy and enthusiasm in our students, schools and employers. Our private sector colleges and universities are helping to meet the post-secondary education needs of our country and we are proud to be the bridge of opportunity for millions of Americans."
With such a meaningful competition for any post-secondary education organization, Wartman is equally proud that one of Hussian's students has brought such positive attention to the school. "Heather has done an excellent job on her design and the theme - Working Proud - depicts the enthusiasm she feels about Hussian. We are delighted that she has won the top prize of $500 and has the opportunity to see her design on all the materials used for this prestigious convention and exposition. Heather is another student who demonstrates the great education our students receive at Hussian."
Lesko was so thrilled to have her work recognized. She said, "I'm very excited and seriously honored that my work was chosen for APSCU. I feel so fortunate to go to Hussian School of Art because we get a great education and they offer real jobs and projects for us to do while students. I'm thankful for the professors here. They are so honest with students and tell you how it is, and that honesty is a real gift."
