  • Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater, FL (1888PressRelease) June 09, 2016 - On 4 June, 246 guests arrived to the Fort Harrison for the Gentlemen's Ball Against Human Trafficking event, produced by Christopher King. Mr. King is the grandson of B.B. King and founder of the non-profit Gentlemen's Course. The event raised funds for Miracles Outreach, a non-profit shelter for human trafficking victims and the Gentlemen's Course. Before the night was through, $10,000 dollars had been raised for these non-profits.

In his speech, Mr. King informed the guests of his non-profit organization, the Gentlemen's Course, which educates youth on proper etiquette and attire and incorporates the United for Human Rights program.

Mr. King addressed the issue of human trafficking and went over Florida's statistics on this. As a part of this, a Public Service Announcement from the United for Human Rights program was shown; No Slavery.

Mr. King said, "Human trafficking involves many facets of Human Rights violations. It mainly violates Human Right #4, 'No Slavery'."

Angela Blaylock from Fortune 500 Company, Molina Healthcare, spoke about Molina's actions to partner and support non-profit organizations in the community.

Following Ms. Blaylock was the introduction of House Representative, Ross Spano. He spoke very passionately about what he does from his position to help handle human trafficking. This included introducing legislation to protect victims' rights; ensuring that victims are not persecuted as criminals.

The event concluded with live entertainment featuring Joanne Edwards. Ms. Edwards performed a set of R&B classics that had the audience up on their feet.

Upon departing the Fort Harrison, guests received complimentary gift bags with a booklet listing out each human right, as laid out by the Universal Declaration of Human rights, and a DVD giving an introduction to those who wish to learn more about their human rights.
