Hudson Realty Capital's David Loo and Richard Ortiz Honored as Champions of Diversity
Real Estate Fund Manager is Acknowledged for Ethnic and Gender Diversity.
- New York, NY (1888PressRelease) July 29, 2011 - Hudson Realty Capital LLC's David Loo and Richard Ortiz, managing directors, were recently honored as "Champions of Diversity" at the 11th Annual National Business Conference. Loo and Ortiz, who co-founded the firm along with Sanford Herrick, were acknowledged by DiversityBusiness.com for their long-standing commitment to ethnic and gender diversity.
Based in Manhattan, with regional offices in Portland, Maine and Fort Myers, Florida, the real estate fund manager has closed more than $3.5 billion in transactions since the formation of its initial two funds. Hudson's diversity initiatives extend to the company's broad range of debt and equity positions in some of the United States' most diversely populated markets.
"Diversity has defined our business and employment strategies from the beginning," said Loo. "It has been, and continues to be, a driving force behind our business philosophy and success as a middle-market lender committed to helping borrowers within the capital-constrained secondary markets."
Hudson is certified by the Empire State Development Agency as a Minority-Owned Business Enterprise (MBE), which requires at least 51 percent ownership by minority individuals. Since its inception in 2003, the firm's executives have focused on attracting, hiring and retaining the most talented and ethnically diverse professionals. Nearly 50 percent of the firm's investment professionals are women, including senior due diligence and asset management staff.
The firm's activities focus on originating, purchasing, participating in, servicing and restructuring high-yield, special-situation debt and acquiring under-performing assets and other real estate-related instruments. Currently, the firm has more than $2 billion of assets under management.
In addition to the "Champions of Diversity" award, Hudson also has been named among the New York Area's largest privately held companies and largest minority owned companies, as well as one of the Top 25 lenders nationally.
